Dr. Michael J. Willis, principal of Michael J. Willis & Associates, is an experienced consultant, trainer, professional counselor, and business executive specializing in competency and skill assessment, staffing and selection, career management services, executive & career coaching, and training.

Dr. Willis is active in a variety of professional associations and has been elected to senior (national, NYS, & regional) leadership positions in professional societies, credentialing bodies, and accrediting organizations. He is a recognized speaker selected to present at national and international conferences on issues relating to professional and personal development.

Of particular note, Dr. Willis was selected by the former Governor Mario Cuomo’s Executive Chamber staff and the NYS Governor’s Office of Employee Relations to provide career transition services to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Chamber staff and other appointees following his failed run for re-election in 1994.

Dr. Willis is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management - CISM (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation — Ellicott City, MD) and holds the designation, Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress. He has provided defusings and debriefings for corporate clients following a variety of situations including terrorist attacks, armed robbery, workplace fatality, traumatic injury, corporate downsizing, employee termination, multiple family member fatality, and employee suicide.

A graduate of Syracuse University (BS - Business Administration/ Marketing, MS - Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Ed.D. - Adult Studies), Dr. Willis holds credentials as a National Certified Career Counselor, Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and National Certified Counselor. He is also a NYS Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor.
